Above you see two Neon Sign transformer. The small SIET is rated for 8KV and 50mA. The big one below from F.A.R.T. is rated for 10KV and 100mA. All the radiant Energy videos are fed by the small NST. They are both current limited without ground switch.

 

The Fritz filter is designed to protect the NST from A high frequency and overvoltage. The way I use my Spark Gap does not require the overvoltage protection because I use the overvoltage spark gap to energize the Tela Coil. Link to Terry Filter

Two series connected 1B22 in action. The hydrogen gas with the Radium 226 has a purple spark color. Radium 226 is radio active. It was used in the beginning of last century almost for everything. They also doped drink water with it. Instruments in an airplane used radium paint for the dials to be visible without light in emergency cases. I will conduct radioactive measurements once a Geiger counter can be delivered.

 

Above is a series connected battery of 1B22. I use mainly only two for the radiant energy project. The spark range is quite large and does not help much to regulate the voltage. It fires very early. Current handling is very high which is not required for the small scale test. These tubes were used in Radar technologies by the military during the second world war.

 

The Series Spark Gap above is done with copper tube. I spaced each copper tube by one millimeter from each other. That gives you good control over the voltage. Good Airflow is required that is the reason I attached two chassis fans. The downside is that the copper is oxidizing fast through the ark. It is therefore required after a short time of use to remove the copper and sand the oxidation down, otherwise it does not quench the spark anymore and you get a short circuit with no power to the Tesla Coil.

 

MMC with back view. Across each capacitor is a 10 MOhm resistor, 10 watt connected. That is a safety feature to make sure when the Tesla coil is not working that all remaining charge is shunted. That is a must have. I used 40KV doorknob capacitor and did not connect to a resistor across the plate. While it was not connected to the circuit it did charge from the dielectric field around the Tesla coil. I touch it with both hands and got shocked through my hole body. I felt like someone is hitting with a big hammer trough your body. I was lucky it was not part of the circuit.

Each capacitor has a rating of 2KV with 150mF. 3 strings can be connected in parallel or in series to adapt to the coil requirement. Lookup the Tesla map under Research paper/Websites.

 

That was the first design of the Bipolar Tesla coil. It is unvarnished. The primary coil is encapsulated with Acrylic tubes. However, when the current can not flow it sparks to the secondary. The sphere does a good job not to break out any spark. In order to avoid energy lost through flashing I potted the primary with the strongest PE available. 75KV per millimeter. Needless to say I required 1.5 liter of this very expensive stuff but it works.
